Wild Party Animal!

Remember that zebra print block I made?  Any guesses for whom I made this birthday card?  LOL!  I hope I got it right.  I wanted a good amount of whimsy in this as the receipient is still pre-teen.  Sometimes animal print can look very vampish to me.  I hope I succeeded in getting the right tone.

 I don't know about you but I think they are having a wild time, dancing away at this birthday party!

And a close up of the sentiment to see that cute ribbon!

Cool Hedgies

(It's a double post Sunday for me so don't forget to keep scrolling down!)

This is my first time playing along with CASology.

When I saw the prompt "drink" I immediately thought of this stamp set.

Aren't these little hedgehogs too cute?  I admit I bought this stamp set just for them.  The set is a "cheap" set that Walmart sold a few years ago.  I'm going to send this to my eldest, thus the school colors.  Hopefully it will help him warm up a bit.

Ingredients
Card size - 4 1/4 in x 5 1/2 in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth
Stamp - Walmart - that is what the packaging says????
Ink - Memento: Tuxedo Black;
Color - Copics

I love you mower...

This card looks so simple doesn't it?  Well I wish it had been.  Now don't get me wrong, it was simple enough but there was a lot of work involved to get it to look that simple.   First there must be a tutorial somewhere about how to make this card but I couldn't find it.  So I had to think it out.  I know if you just cut a slot and tape it down either side that the pull bar gets hung up on the adhesive from when I made a pocket card.  So I fashioned a channel out of the patterned paper after I had created the grass scene out of cardstock and patterned paper and paper piecing the bushes.

And yeah, I made certain all those dots lined up on the pull bar and on the channel.

I think if I did this again I would have put everything slightly lower on the page, though I do like it that the mower is pretty much going across the center of the card.

BTW - how do you like my cutting? I used the backing off the mounting as a template to get that look.  I can't do that margin cutting normally so I was delighted to work that bit out!

TARDIS in London

Hello Sweetie!

Firstly, my family are Dr Who fans.  Secondly I about cried with joy when I found this stamp on VivaLasVegastamps. Love! Love! Love!  Did I mention I love this stamp - great size, great subject!  When I saw the police box stamp I knew I had to make it fly and that I already had a London background stamp to ground it.  From there it was just some assembly required and to be honest this is one of those times when the image in my brain actually turned out on the card itself.  SQUEEEE!

However, that said that doesn't mean there aren't things I wouldn't do differently.  I versamarked the mat but you can't really tell, not even in real life, so if I do that again I will emboss it too.  And maybe add a few more gears/watches to the sky.  Debating whether I would versamark or really make them stand out. Hmm.

Happy BEER day!

See! Masculine Birthday cards really aren't that difficult.  Just go with what you know they love!  I made a version of this card a few years ago so I thought I would revisit it for another guy in my life.  That is 50 pints of beer, stamped, colored, and glossy accented and there is one on the inside for a 51 beer salute (we did remind him it wasn't a challenge!).  I cut the stamped ropes off the added some cord for depth.  I think it worked.

Stamps - Viva LasVegastamps - Man Sleeping in Hammock 3 1/2 x 4 1/2;

Christmas Blocks

Boy did I make blocks for Christmas!  Basically one side had a name and pattern and the other a pattern.  The names aren't my kids so I smudged them out.  I hope you don't mind.  Sorry about making this post picture heavy but just thought it was easier to get the generic here is a bunch of the same thing but they are different.

I thought these would be a good post for inauguration day - The first block is for a young man that wants to attend Naval Academy.  There is blue camo with the name on one side and the eagle flag on the other.  I found these pictures online and didn't sell them on.  I think that is ok under fair use under copyright law.

This block was for a young lady who "loves" zebra print and sparkle!  I printed the tissue paper, mod podged to the block let it dry. I sealed it with matte sealer. Then I used glitter glue to highlight her name (hand cramp!!!!).  The "jewels" were from a bulk pot from Hobby Lobby.

This block was for a musical young lady.  I know she loves to read as well but without knowing favorite books and hated books I thought that was a bit of a minefield, so I went with the music.  Again I downloaded the images and add the name.  Mod Podged it to the block and let it dry overnight.  Sealed it and added the glitz!
I'm not going to bother with an ingredients list - I'm pretty certain I labelled my other attempts the same and TBH nothing changed except the images and the addition of the jewels.

I actually made two more blocks but they were very specific and would give away more information than I would want to give on my blog LOL!

Hot Rod! Tag

I don't really know where the time is going this year.  I have loads of projects that I gave away as Christmas presents to blog, however, since I have uploaded this for a competition on GinaKDesigns Stamp TV I thought I should share it on my blog ASAP too!

I don't normally make tags, so it's not like you have missed them on my blog or anything.  But that was the challenge.  So how do you think I did?  I wanted dimension but to keep it a bit CAS and dimensional.  I wanted the sentiment to echo the puff of exhaust out the back of the card.

One thing I have learned is that the scallop nestabilities aren't "regular" So you can't flip them etc and expect them to line up.  Of course I learnt this AFTER I had put a gazillion rows of tape on the large scallop of red, so I just went with it as a type of shadow effect. *wink wink*

Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth, Recollections - red.
Stamps - Gina K: Heartily Yours, Heartily Yours Additions;
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
