S.W.A.K.

Saw the prompt and just had to do this card!

Hot, sexy, glittering, RED lips.  Is there anything else to say (except that I don't know why my card is photographing warped! YIKES!)

I had an online conversation about "missing you" cards and the poster said they should be muted and I had disagreed.  Now, this for me would make a great missing you card in the right situation and it is bold and in your face, nothing muted or subtle about it.

(Dr) Who loves you?

So this is the Valentine's card I sent my eldest at university.  Hope he likes it!  I'm posting it a couple of days late just in case he didn't get it on time which of course had nothing to do with me mailing it late and making a special trip to the post office to hit the next out cycle in hopes that it might just get there on time.  OK?

Once upon a time

Once upon a time there was a challenge at High Hopes blog to use a couple on your card... a couple of people or a couple of animal or one of each.  Well of course, I couldn't resist finally making this scene that I bought these stamps to make and just how cute are they sitting/standing there in their finery just waiting for your approval.

Guess I got my Copics withdrawal sorted out all on one card!

Ingredients
Card size 4.25 x 5.5 in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth
Stamps - High Hopes: Castle; Rock Wall; Fearless Knight; Sitting Princess
Ink - Memento: Tuxedo Black
Color - Copics
Accessories- Dimensionals (thin under rock wall/princess and thick under Knight)

Time for tea Mother

Well I was completely inspired by the card at Muse Challenge #4!

Now I have to be honest I already had this Gina K Designs stamp set on my desk for a card for my Mother in Law for Mothering Sunday (just three weeks away now).  So when this challenge popped up it really helped me get it together. With the layout and colors - the drink theme is somewhat coincidental!

And I guess I am more photographically challenged than normal because the purple-ly blue cardstock I choose isn't that color at all.  Isn't it funny how some colors photograph.

I also thought it was a fresh way to use the flourish paper.  You see so many fun patterns on dishes these days.  Love the dotted saucer inside.  I did debate on whether to do the same with the inside of the mug but I like a clean looking inside of the mug so went with white.

I decided to move away from my copics (again! oh the horror) and do some paper piecing on this card.

I tried to do something quirky with my "happy mother's day" but just couldn't get it to look right so I went with making it underline the image to help ground it.

Ingredients
Card Size - 8.5 in x 5.5 in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth; The Paper Studio: Classics; Open stock Archivers;
Stamps - Gina K Designs: Mugs & Kisses; Kitchen Sink Stamps: Ready 4 Any Holiday;
Ink - Memento; Versamark;
Accessories - Kaleidoscope embossing powder; Black pen to edge the cut.

Original DARK Wild Thing

This was the original card I made for this challege.  I don't know if it exactly qualifies as CAS that is why I revisited the challenge in white.  However, there is such a broad interpretation of CAS that I thought I would enter it and see.

So what do you think?  It pretty much has the same elements at the other card.

BTW Happy Valentine's Day!

Ingredients-
Card size - 4.25 in x 5.5 in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth
Stamps - Gina K Designs - Gleefully Yours; Cornish Heritage Farms - Tiger Background;
Ink - Versamark;
Color - Copics - black 110,  Pink.
Accessories - Zing glitter embossing powder; clear embossing powder; pink rhinestones.

Wild Thing - I think I love you.

A great challenge that I am finally participating in - My love song is in honor of Reg Presley, frontman of the Troggs who was buried today.  I can't think of the Troggs without thinking of "Wild thing... you make my heart sing"

Hope that works I haven't linked a video before and I'm on a time crunch anyway this is what I came up with on my 2nd attempt.  I will post my first as well in another post

I think if I did this again I would stamp the mike higher on the heart.  This is the first time I have used randomly placed rhinestones.  The card just seemed to need a little extra something.  Love the Glitter embossing powder with this stamp.

Feeling Groovy!

Slow down, you're going to fast.  Gotta make the morning last...

I made this set for the Stamp TV Mix It Up Monday challenge.  The challenge was to make Three 3 x 3 in cards using the same supplies.   My supplies were black and white cardstock, circle nestability, So Groovy stamp set, Big Juicy rainbow ink, Versamark Ink and White embossing powder.

I really wanted to play with the 60s/70s vibe with this set and how things were black and white and colorful all at once.  I tried to use more embellishments with this but just couldn't work it into the cards were it made sense.  I also failed on the secondary challenge to get them done in 30 minutes - Yikes - took me an hour for all that heat embossing and fussy cutting.- yeah those little knobs on the TV are fussy cut!

And it is an optical illusion I used the same one size circle die for all three cards.

Ingredients
Card size - 3 in x 3 in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth, Recollections;
Stamps - Gina K Designs: So Groovy;
Ink - Big Juicy rainbow pad; Versamark;
Accessories - Nestabilities Circle die; White embossing powder.

Birthday Flowers

This is the card I have made for my mother in law's birthday.  I used the High Hopes Stamps Blog prompt of Flower.  The stamps are High Hopes stamps and the flower is colored in with Prismacolor pencils.  Oh should I have warned you first?  I read a blog challenge (forgotten which one) a few weeks ago to use something you hadn't in a while and I have to admit that since my love affair with Copics began my pencils have been neglected.

I took inspiration for the card design from The Gentleman Crafter in this video. After choosing some patterned paper with flowers on it, I decided against a black background for my MIL.  I wouldn't mind it but I know a lot of people can be funny about using black on birthday cards for bases.  I really wanted to keep it organic and textural.  I like the "chintz" look to it.  Ikea would definitely chuck this card out!  So this whole creation is a bit outside my comfort zone but I like how it turned out.  I was going to leave the loops of paper flat like the video did but I decided I wanted more dimension and so I pushed the top layer forward - in a neat way I think the loops make a flower to host the flower image - *whistling like I totally planned that* ;)  I also had to improvise because I must be the only card crafter left on the planet that hasn't jumped on the washi tape wagon.  Good ol ribbon and twine to the rescue!

I lined the inside with the same paper I used for the loops on the front of the card, cut it the same and used the same corner punch.  A complete nod to the card in the video/ HERE

Class Act

So I wanted to play the Mix it Up Monday Challenge at Gina K... I also wanted to just play with an idea I had for this piano stamp and somehow they got combined.

Originally this piano was a One Layer CAS card.  Yup that's right until I smudged the white space.  Thus the salvage job of going ahead and using the image for the layout challenge this week.  I stuck fairly faithfully to the layout given.

So the details are that the piano and the treble clef and bass clef, and the sentiment are all versamark and detail black embossing powder.  I really like the effect of the black on black.  The curvy musical notes were stamped with a Big Juicy rainbow pad.  If I had planned to die cut I would have placed that lower on the image but it still works.  The straight musical score was stamped with Archival ink.  I don't know if the first picture really shows why this didn't work on white.  I basically had two images competing for focus.  Thus I went in after I thought I was done and attempted to tone down the white by sponging the archival ink.  It works but I only did an ok job.

What I would do differently is
  1. Have the notes lower on the main image.
  2. Use kraft for banner.
  3. Age the musical score with a brown to tone it to a "kraft" neutral.
